Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Maintenance Service and a Service Call?
Maintenance Service is a preventive measure that helps your unit last longer and helps you avoid big expensive problems. This service should be done once a year, in the spring, before it gets hot, or twice a year in the spring and fall
Maintenance service helps your A/C unit last longer, as our A/C technician will catch small issues before they become big problems. Having your unit work more efficiently will cause it to use less energy to cool your home or office, which means savings during those hot months! Maintenance service is scheduled for a future date.
A Maintenance Service Call that requires our A/C technician to research a problem will incur an hourly fee and a Service Call is immediately scheduled.
How often do I need a maintenance check if my A/C unit is working fine?
If the unit is under warranty, once a year, in the spring, before it gets hot is good enough.
If the unit is older, twice a year (in the spring and fall), will help extend the life of your unit.
I have a newborn baby, should I do anything to my A/C?
We recommend you change the filter every month so there are fewer dust particles in the air for the baby's developing lungs, and make sure the A/C ducts are clean.
What temperature should I keep my thermostat at when I’m not home?
The rule of thumb is 2 to 3 degrees above what you keep it when you are home...
How often do I need to change my A/C filter?
Filters need to be changed every month in South Florida, regardless of the manufacturer’s recommendation. Especially if you have large pets, allergies, or smoke.
“When in doubt, change it.”
The cleaner the air filter, the better for your health and the life span of your unit.
I have a big dog that sheds so much hair! Are there any special things I should be doing to take care of my A/C system?
Dog hair will clog the air filter which leads back to the air handler. If the filter gets clogged, the airflow will be restricted, and your unit will have to work harder to keep you cool so not only will your dog keep you warm - your A/C will too...
Inspect your filter often, at least once a month. If you have a disposable filter, replace it often. If you have a washable filter, wash it at least once a month.
Whatever you do, do not run the A/C unit without the air filter!
Dust and dog hair will get into the A/C unit and then you’ll start to develop a real problem.
